How to Sell Online Courses, Exams and Mock Test Series on Your Own Website

Selling education online comes down to three questions: where does it live, how does the student pay, and how do they get access after paying? This guide walks a complete beginner through all three, using your own WordPress site.

What you need

  1. A domain and hosting. See the hosting guide.
  2. WordPress. See what WordPress is.
  3. Turgor Exam Engine (free), which builds the courses, quizzes and mock tests.
  4. Turgor Exam Engine Pro, which adds Products and checkout through WooCommerce or Google Play Billing.
  5. WooCommerce (free) with a payment gateway available in your country, if you sell on the website.
  6. Legal pages: terms, privacy and refund policy.

The free plugin gives you access rules: open courses and one-click free enrollment. Taking payment needs Pro. Everything in the free plugin keeps working without it. Pro pricing is on the pricing section.

The complete list is on Turgor Exam Engine features: free vs Pro.

Pick a selling model first

  • One course, one price.
  • A mock-test series, sold as one pack.
  • A bundle, such as course plus test series, granting several courses at once.
  • Free sample plus paid upgrade: a free standalone test brings in sign-ups.
  • Subscription, with WooCommerce Subscriptions.
  • Android app unlocks through Google Play Billing.

The Product screen offers four ways to sell: One-time purchase, Subscription, Free (one-click enrol) and Open (no enrolment).

Step by step: sell on your website

  1. Build the content first. Create the course or paper with the setup tutorial.
  2. Install WooCommerce from Plugins → Add New, and connect a payment gateway in its settings.
  3. Create the product in WooCommerce with its real price. This is what actually charges the customer.
  4. Install and activate Turgor Exam Engine Pro and follow Getting started with Pro.
  5. Go to Turgor Exam Engine → Products → Add new product.
  6. Enter a Title, choose How this is sold, and enter a display Price.
  7. Choose Access length (days), or leave it blank for lifetime. Or use an Access window with fixed start and end dates for every buyer, such as until the exam date.
  8. Pick the Linked WooCommerce product.
  9. Under Courses granted, tick one course, or several for a bundle.
  10. Set Status to Published and click Save product.

After that, a purchase grants the courses as soon as the order is processing or completed. A refund, cancellation or failed payment removes access, and a partial refund removes only the refunded items. With [turgee_courses] on a page, Pro turns the grid into a storefront with prices and an Add to cart button. Course pages show Buy this course or Enroll for free.

Step by step: sell in an Android app

  1. Open Turgor Exam Engine → Settings and the Google Play Billing card.
  2. Enter your Package name and the full server path to your Service-account key file.
  3. On each product, enter the one-time product’s ID as Google Play Console SKU.
  4. For automatic refunds, paste the Real-time notifications push URL into your Pub/Sub subscription in Google Cloud, then use Send test notification in Play Console.

The full options are in Selling courses.

After the sale

  • Orders shows every course granted to anyone, from any source.
  • On a saved product, Extend access moves everyone’s expiry, and Manually enrol a student grants access by email.
  • Certificates and class reports are covered in Class reports and certificates.

Practical tips

  • Lead with a free test. A free mock test with a results screen is the best advertisement.
  • Put the syllabus and a sample question on the sales page.
  • Offer a single test, a pack and the full series so buyers can start small.
  • Protect your content with copy protection and signed video links.
  • Publish a clear refund policy before you take the first order.
  • Test a real purchase with a test order before launch.
