Watch the how-to: Lesson videos with chapters, captions and resume
Every lesson and topic editor has a Lesson videos box. A lesson can have several videos, one for each subtopic.
Add a video
Each video is its own numbered block. Click Add another video for more.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tag | The tag for this video, such as [turgee_video n="2"]. Paste it into the lesson text where the video should play. |
| Title | Optional. Shown above the video, such as the subtopic’s name. |
| Video | Click Choose video for an MP4 from the media library, or enter its full URL. With Pro video hosting, enter the video’s CDN path instead, such as /videos/lesson-1.mp4. |
| Poster image | Optional. Click Choose image. Shown until the student presses play. |
| Length (seconds) | Optional. Players read the real length from the file. |
| Chapters | Optional. One per line: a start time, then the title. |
Chapters look like this:
0:00 Introduction
0:36 Negative regulation
1:54 Exam summary
Place a video in the lesson
Paste the video’s tag into the lesson text, for example under its subtopic’s heading. A video whose tag is not in the text plays above the lesson.
What students get
- A chapter list
- A speed menu
- Resume where they left off
- Starting one video pauses the others
Paid videos on Bunny CDN (Pro)
Turgor Exam Engine Pro can serve each lesson video from Bunny CDN with a signed link that stops working after a few hours, so a link copied from a student’s browser does not keep working. To set it up:
- In Bunny, open your pull zone’s Security → Token Authentication and copy the key.
- In WordPress, go to Turgor Exam Engine → Video hosting.
- Enter your CDN hostname, such as
your-zone.b-cdn.net, and the Token authentication key. - Set Links stop working after to between 1 and 72 hours, then save.
- In each lesson’s Lesson videos box, enter the video’s CDN path in the Video field, such as
/videos/lesson-1.mp4.
The video plays in the same player as any other, with chapters, speed menu and resume. The full Pro walkthrough is in Getting started with Pro.
Common questions
A red note says students will not see my video.
A CDN path plays only once Turgor Exam Engine → Video hosting is set up in Pro, as described above. Without Pro, use a full URL or choose the video from the media library.
How do I keep paid videos private?
Use Pro’s Bunny CDN video hosting, described above. Each video gets a signed link that expires.
Does the plugin upload or contact any video service?
No. The video plays from the address you entered, loaded by the student’s browser or app.
For developers
The turgee_lesson_video_url filter changes the URL a student is given for a video. Pro’s video hosting uses it to sign Bunny CDN links.
