The Questions screen

Search, filter and edit every question on your site in one place.

Watch the how-to: One question bank for every exam

Turgor Exam Engine → Questions lists every question on the site, whichever quizzes it is on. Edit a question here and every quiz that uses it changes with it.

Find a question

Use the boxes above the list, then click Filter:

  • Search – a question’s title, its text or its ID number.
  • Category – one category, or No category.
  • Difficulty – Easy, Medium, Hard, or Not set.
  • Type – one of the eight question types.
  • Markable or not – Cannot be marked finds questions that stop a quiz opening, usually imported ones with damaged type data.

Each row shows the question’s type, marks, category, difficulty and how many quizzes use it.

Add or edit a question

Click Add question, or Edit under any question. The form is the same one the quiz editor uses:

  • Category – type an existing one to reuse it, or a new name to create it.
  • Topic and Subtopic – optional; a student’s results are broken down by them in their dashboard.
  • Title – only for finding the question later. Left blank, the question text is used.
  • Hint – shown to a student who asks for it while answering.
  • Explanation – shown after the quiz is submitted.
  • Second language – an optional translation of the question and explanation.

A new question is not on any quiz yet. Add it from the quiz’s own Questions box (see Building a quiz).

Delete a question

Open the question and click Delete. It is taken off every quiz it is on.

A question that any student has already answered cannot be deleted, so their past results stay complete. Take it off the quiz instead.

Questions imported from LearnDash

An imported question can be edited here like any other. Running the LearnDash question import again copies LearnDash’s version over it and undoes those edits; the question form warns you about this. LearnDash’s own question screen is no longer in the menu, because the exam engine never reads those posts.
